COMMUNITY SERVICE

Arts Commissioner, City of San Jose, CA. 2006 - present
The Arts Commission of the City of San Jose advises the City Council on issues that contribute to the development of San Jose as a regional arts center that nurtures the artistic expression of all its diverse people.

Appointed by the City Council, the 13-member Commission assess cultural needs of San Jose and develop arts policy, program and budget recommendations for approval by the City Council, including annual cultural grants and public art. Administrative support for the Arts Commission is provided by the Office of Cultural Affairs.

Berryessa Adobe Advisory Committee, City of Santa Clara, CA. 1999 - 2000

Cultural Advisory Commissioner, City of Santa Clara, CA.  1996 - 2000
Advised City regarding all cultural events and activities. Activities included organization of yearly art exhibitions and Music in the Park concert series, reviewed arts organization grant requests, recommended distribution of grant money, working with other City committees and offices, attendance at national and statewide arts conferences, juried several arts competitions, consulting during the design phase for a new high school theater building, and negotiations leading to the renovation and shared use of the Sun Microsystems/Agnews Developmental Center auditorium and governor's mansion.
